Josh Blake’s TeaPOT Trio

TeaPOT is a modern organ trio rooted in groove, deep improvisation, and musical connection. Featuring Josh Blake on guitar, Taylor Pierson on Hammond organ, and Claude Coleman Jr. on drums, the trio draws from the classic organ-trio tradition while pushing it forward with modern harmonic language, rhythmic exploration, and adventurous interplay. TeaPOT’s sound is dynamic, soulful, and driven as much by conversation as by composition.

At the center of the trio is guitarist Josh Blake, widely regarded as a cornerstone of the Asheville music community. Dubbed the “Musical Mayor of Asheville, NC” by JamBase and recognized by Live For Live Music as an integral force in the city’s musical ecosystem, Blake’s influence is felt both on stage and behind the scenes. He has performed with artists including Warren Haynes, Oteil Burbridge, John Medeski, Marcus King, and members of Ween, and has worked in the studio with Billy Strings, Lettuce, Leftover Salmon, The Motet, and many more.

Blake’s long-running projects—including Josh Blake’s Organic Trio (JBOT)—have helped define Asheville’s modern jazz, funk, and improvisational landscape. With TeaPOT, he brings that lineage into a focused, exploratory trio format that honors tradition while staying firmly rooted in the present moment.
