Mountain Metropolis: The “Land of the Sky” in the Roaring ’20s Kickoff Party

Throughout the month of November, Buncombe County Special Collections will be hosting a new exhibit, “Mountain Metropolis: The “Land of the Sky” in the Roaring ’20s”! In addition to the primary exhibit on the main level of the library, the BCSC’s “Carolina Record Shop” space will feature an installation from curator in residence, Brody Hunt, all about the historic 1925 Asheville Recording Sessions.

Join us on Saturday, November 1st at 2pm in the Lord Auditorium to celebrate the opening in true 1920s style! Put on your dancing shoes and shimmy along with Russ Wilson’s Ten Kings of Jazz and Andrew Fletcher, plus hear from Brody as he shares some information about the historic 1925 recording sessions and plays some of the tunes captured by OKeh 100 years ago.
