Matt Smith’s Well-Crafted Jazz Quartet

Matt Smith is an Asheville-based guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with more than two decades of experience touring, performing, and recording. A longtime fixture in the Western North Carolina music community, Smith has spent years working across a wide range of styles and has contributed to hundreds of recording sessions as both a player and collaborator.

At the center of his playing, however, is a deep connection to jazz guitar. Drawing inspiration from George Benson, Wes Montgomery, and Bill Frisell, Smith brings together the melodic phrasing, harmonic language, and rhythmic feel of the instrument’s tradition with the versatility developed over a career spent working across genres.

For this special quartet performance, Smith is joined by longtime musical collaborators Taylor Pierson on organ, Evan Martin on drums, and Tyler Householder on percussion. Expect organ driven straight-ahead jazz, soul-jazz, groove, and open improvisation.

$10 weekdays -$15 weekends at the door (all ticket proceeds are 100% passed to the band, backed by a living wage guarantee from Hotel Eve)
