Live Jazz: Steve LaSpina Trio

Steve LaSpina is a master bassist and composer who has been a vital presence on the New York and international jazz scene for over four decades. A longtime collaborator with jazz legends including Stan Getz, Benny Carter, Phil Woods, Joe Williams, Mark Murphy, Clark Terry, Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Pat Martino, and Jim Hall, LaSpina has appeared on more than 75 recordings as a sideman and leader. His decade-long collaboration with Hall includes six acclaimed albums, among them These Rooms featuring Tom Harrell. A respected bandleader and composer, LaSpina has released multiple albums under his own name on SteepleChase and Ram Records, featuring artists such as Fred Hersch, Ben Monder, and Jim McNeely. He has performed at major festivals worldwide and is also a dedicated educator, serving on the faculty at William Paterson University since 1999. LaSpina’s playing is distinguished by its deep swing, lyricism, and unwavering musical integrity.
