Ben Saylor (banjo) and James Schlender (fiddle) form the duo High Top Boys, which has its roots in 2016 when the two met in Bozeman. Playing in a bluegrass band together there, the two musicians clicked and formed a duo showcasing Saylor’s songwriting on banjo paired with Schlender’s intrepid and incredibly deft fiddle playing. Since then, the two have collaborated often, both on stage and in studio, often with Saylor’s bands Brushfire Stankgrass and Saylor Brothers. Both musicians are an active part of the fertile Asheville NC bluegrass scene and can be found at Pisgah Brewing on February 19, 2025.
