Goombay Festival returns to Asheville’s historic East End for a vibrant celebration of Black culture, music, food, art, and community! Rooted in the rich traditions of Asheville’s Black community, Goombay brings neighbors and visitors together for a weekend of unforgettable experiences—from live music and Go-Go to local vendors, art, dance, food, family activities, and the Ujima 5K.
Presented by the YMI Cultural Center, Goombay is more than a festival—it is a celebration of heritage, resilience, creativity, and the people who continue to shape Western North Carolina. Come experience the energy, support Black-owned businesses and artists, reconnect with community, and celebrate the legacy of Asheville’s historic East End.
