DESCRIPTION:Spartanburg’s Undercover Jazz formed when music professor Zachary Pruitt returned to South Carolina from New York and met two other music teachers that started jamming on jazz standards and playing gigs locally. They began expanding their repertoire to include original post-bop compositions featuring saxophone players Peter Dimery and Evan Jacob as well as playing new jazz arrangements of soul\, rnb\, pop\, hip-hop\, and even film and video game music. This culminated in the full length album of all original material; “Four Sun Planet” released in 2024. They’ve since played around the Carolinas including a performance sharing a bill with Preservation Hall Jazz Band at Greenville Jazz Fest in 2024. In 2025 they began featuring local gospel singer/songwriter Walter Farr on lead vocals presenting original music and covers. \n$15 at the door (all ticket proceeds are 100% passed to the band\, backed by a living wage guarantee from Hotel Eve) \nHotel Eve is your locally rooted\, speakeasy jazz club & cocktail bar\, hidden in the heart of Downtown Asheville. Which means that the inevitable reality of winter will soon lead to the momentous occasion at Pisgah Brewing known as… STOUT HOG DAY!! \nStout Hog Day 2026 will kick off at 11am on Sunday\, February 8th\, and will feature a taproom full of stouts and darks with some of Pisgah’s finest darker brews + a variety of special dark beer releases/variations.\n\nA new tradition was born in 2014 as the staff of Pisgah Brewing decided to add a fulfilling twist to the day by starting off with the Brewer’s Breakfast\, a full early afternoon of free pancakes for all (while supplies last) prepared by the brewers and staff themselves for their loyal fans.\n\nAnd what’s Stout Hog Day without live music? Drew Matulich & Friends featuring Lyndsay Pruett\, Stig Stiglets and Korey Brodsky\, will perform a special set of Doc Watson tunes and a set of bluegrass standards/originals – they will begin around 2pm on the indoor stage.\n\n$2 off canned beer to go for the Super Bowl that evening.\n\n\nFounded in 2005\, Pisgah is known for producing some of the most sought after craft ales in Western North Carolina. Pisgah Brewing Company currently operates an indoor taproom and an open air outdoor bar in the summer and fall months with live music several days a week. At its core lies the trio of Alex Bazemore (guitar)\, and Asheville’s own Jackson Chisholm (upright bass) and Johnny Humphries (mandolin)\, son of local Bluegrass legend Don Humphries. As Suns Of Stars has been gathering momentum they’ve picked up Alex Ball (fiddle) and Jason Flournoy (banjo). Suns Of Stars members are all hometown heroes in various musical projects around town which has led to great turnout at their shows.
