DESCRIPTION:Jazz Bassoonist Michael Rabinowitz has built his career in the NYC area over the past four decades. He is sought out throughout the world as one of the few who can improvise convincingly on this instrument which is rarely heard outside classical configurations. Michael is a founding member of The Charles Mingus Orchestra which appeared at Birdland last November and has performed and recorded with many jazz luminaries including Joe Lovano\, Wynton Marsalis\, Ira Sullivan\, John Hicks and Chris Potter. Additionally he has seven albums as a leader featuring his own compositions. For this engagement at Hotel Eve he has specially selected a rhythm section of the highest caliber in the Asheville area. The world renown bassist Steve Laspina\, a recent transplant from NYC\, will be playing bass joined by the combined talents of Evan Martin on drums and Tim Fischer on guitar. \n$15 at the door (all ticket proceeds are 100% passed to the band\, backed by a living wage guarantee from Hotel Eve) \n*Reserve a table in advance\, or join us impromptu the night of the show. DESCRIPTION:Orbiting around Asheville’s grateful music scene since late 2023\, Suns Of Stars blends contemporary and traditional bluegrass with a high energy jam style. Suns Of Stars members are all hometown heros in various musical projects around town which has led to great turnout at their shows. At its core lies the trio of Alex Bazemore (guitar)\, and Asheville’s own Jackson Chisholm (upright bass) and Johnny Humphries (mandolin)\, son of local Bluegrass legend Don Humphries. As Suns Of Stars has been gathering momentum they’ve picked up Alex Ball (fiddle) and Jason Flournoy (banjo). Suns Of Stars members are all hometown heroes in various musical projects around town which has led to great turnout at their shows. That\, along with a massive song repertoire and growing list of original music make for a unique performance each time. \nThe West Asheville taproom hosts a wide variety of special and regular events\, from yoga to an electronic music & beer festival\, and everything in between.
