DESCRIPTION:Celebrated bassist and composer Steve LaSpina has been a vital force on the New York and international jazz scene for more than four decades. A longtime collaborator with icons including Stan Getz\, Benny Carter\, Phil Woods\, Joe Williams\, Clark Terry\, Chet Baker\, Randy Brecker\, Pat Martino\, and Jim Hall\, LaSpina has appeared on more than 275 recordings as both leader and sideman. His recordings as a bandleader and decades of international touring reflect a playing style defined by deep swing\, lyricism\, and musical integrity. \nFor this performance\, LaSpina leads a quintet featuring Dr. Bill Bares (piano)\, Peter Dimery (tenor sax)\, Tim Fischer (guitar)\, and Alan Hall (drums)\, bringing together seasoned voices for an evening rooted in tradition\, interplay\, and spontaneous exploration. As Suns Of Stars has been gathering momentum they’ve picked up Alex Ball (fiddle) and Jason Flournoy (banjo). Suns Of Stars members are all hometown heroes in various musical projects around town which has led to great turnout at their shows.
