Experimenting with DIY\, self-made instruments as an expression of a minimalist life philosophy while remaining loyal to traditional Yemeni percussive roots\, the three-piece developed a unique Arabic-Yemeni style. Although their detachment from any nation or flag is a driving force behind the group\, the heart of their music and heritage remains deeply rooted in Yemeni culture. The constant divisions created by war and migration have given rise to a reassembled identity\, one that resonates strongly throughout El Khat’s music. \nCoconut Cake is an ensemble dedicated to rumba music – chiming and reverberant guitars\, syncopated bass\, drums\, and shakers all dancing together to create a bold\, swinging and sophisticated rhythm. Led by guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Michael Libramento\, the group is known for their upbeat instrumental performances\, inspired by Cuban son music\, early rock ‘n’ roll\, and legendary African dance bands of the 50s and 60s. \n  \nThe AyurPrana Listening Room was constructed within the walls of a former church and built to compliment and expand upon the natural acoustics of the room by way of fresh audio equipment and extraordinary sound treatment. Interplaced between acoustic panels and rustically braced arches\, sliding panels adorn the windows and upstage walls allowing the ability to fine-tune the liveliness of the room. DESCRIPTION:“Research and Development” is a chord-less quartet born from the shared vision of four composers pushing the boundaries of their music through expanded color\, texture\, and form. Centered around a fluid front line of saxophones\, clarinets\, and flutes\, the group explores adventurous\, original compositions grounded by inventive bass and dynamic\, textural drumming. The ensemble features Chris Bullock on flutes and saxophones\, a genre-defying composer and multi-instrumentalist widely recognized for his work with Snarky Puppy\, whose playing blends rhythmic precision with a bold\, exploratory approach to sound and orchestration. On bass clarinet and saxophones\, Jacob Rodriguez brings a deeply expressive\, modern voice—he has been a longtime member of Michael Bublé’s band since 2007\, appearing on Grammy-winning albums such as Crazy Love and Higher\, and has performed with artists including Aretha Franklin and Ambrose Akinmusire. \nRounding out the group are Quinn Sternberg on bass\, anchoring the ensemble with nuance and adventurous interplay\, and Jaze Uries on drums\, whose dynamic\, color-driven approach expands the rhythmic landscape into something fluid and immersive. \n$10 weekdays -$15 weekends at the door (all ticket proceeds are 100% passed to the band\, backed by a living wage guarantee from Hotel Eve) \n*Reserve a table in advance\, or join us impromptu the night of the show.
