Nobody’s Darling String Band is a group of five ladies who are seasoned Old Time musicians, that play kick butt Mountain Music every Saturday from 4 to 6 PM at Jack of the Wood. A fiddle, guitars, standup bass and banjo uke round out this engaging and energetic group, playing in the traditional style of Appalachian roots music.
Jack Of The Wood is still a downtown hot spot for food, brews and drink since 1997 and founders Joan and Joe Eckert who still own it, have maintained the original lively English and Irish vibe. Rissi Palmer’s gift lies in reaching across all musical boundaries. While she made her mark in Country Music, she is equally at home in R&B music, bringing the entire spectrum of popular music to bear on music she calls “Southern Soul.” Palmer debuted in 2007 with the single “Country Girl”, which made her the first African-American woman to chart a country song since Dona Mason in 1987. A few highlights throughout her musical career include performances at The White House, New York’s Lincoln Center and multiple appearances on the Grand Ole Opry.
