Miles Davis once quipped, “I’ll play it first and tell you what it is later.” Butcher Brown has released forward-thinking and expansive hybrids of jazz and hip-hop since 2013. Today, they have an apt descriptor for their songs: solar music. Drawing inspiration from every sound under the sun, the Richmond, VA band adds elements of funk, soul, and rock to their foundational mix. The result is a Southern-leaning, sometimes psychedelic fusion that feels fresh yet familiar.
Aaron Earl Livingston, also known by his stage name Son Little, is an American rhythm & blues musician from Philadelphia. In his solo career, Little’s musical genre — neo-soul — is a contemporary soul fusion of R&B, jazz and hip-hop with passionate vocals and introspective lyrics.

Pylon Reenactment Society is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. Since 2014, Vanessa Briscoe Hay, who was the singer of Pylon, has fronted the Pylon Reenactment Society, aka PRS, a band featuring members of more recent Athens bands like The Glands and Casper & the Cookies who perform the music of Pylon and now are writing and recording original material.

The Wandering Hearts are a London based country-folk-pop quartet known for their deft fingerpicking, rousing choruses, dark-hued lyrics, and sweet, close vocal harmonies. They achieved their second consecutive #1 on the UK’s official Americana charts with last summer’s self-titled second album. The Greenliners are an Asheville-based progressive bluegrass ensemble featuring Richard Barrett (guitar & vocals), Jackson Dulaney (dobro), Christian Ferri (upright bass), Jay Franck (mandolin & vocals), and Ben Saylor (banjo & vocals); all veterans of the Western North Carolina acoustic music scene. Their music is a melting pot of southern acoustic, jam-grass, and americana with a focus on songwriting. Anchored by Barrett & Franck’s unique vocal blend, The Greenliners carve out a fresh take on the Appalachian acoustic traditions.

Brunch starts at 11am — with lively bluegrass tunes courtesy of Asheville’s own Shady Grove String Band from 12-3pm. Shady Grove Stringband features a rotating cast of local pickers, anchored by Didi Wildrover on Guitar and Vocals. This show will feature special guests Stig Stiglets of Saylor Brothers on Bass and Vocals, and Tommy Maher and Jesse Iaquinto of Fireside Collective on Vocals and Dobro and Mandolin respectively.

The City of Hope located in Ntagacha, an extremely impoverished Tanzanian community close to the Kenyan border, rescues children from situations of abuse, child marriage, female genital mutilation, hunger, and disease.
The event will include live African music by the magnificent local musician, Adama Dembele and his trio, from 4:30pm to 5:15pm. Then at 5:30pm, Jonathan Pearlman and friends will entertain you acoustic style, with an eclectic mix of Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Folk Rock, 60’s and 70’s Pop and Jazz. $20 Suggested donation at the door.
