THIS THURSDAY | George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners with Magnolia Boulevard @ High Gravity Taproom at Sierra Nevada Mills River
Jan 8 all-day

Bass legend George Porter Jr. will be coming through the Sierra Nevada High Gravity Room Thursday, January 11th!

George Porter Jr. is an award-winning bassist, songwriter and vocalist. He is a founding member of New Orleans’ seminal funk band, The Meters and widely recognized as one of the greatest bass players of all time. At 76, George still maintains a healthy touring schedule with his Runnin’ Pardners, a cast of seasoned and talented musicians including long-time collaborator Michael Lemmler (keyboards), Terrence Houston (drums) and Chris Adkins (guitar). The band is known for its stop-on-a-dime tightness and proves over and over that with the right musical ingredients the magic can actually be bottled.

Lexington Kentucky based Magnolia Boulevard warms up the stage with a fusion of rock, blues, soul, and jam!

COMING THIS FRIDAY | The Legendary “BloodKin” @ Shiloh & Gaines
Jan 9 all-day

From West Virginia and Widespread Panic, to the Velvet Underground and beyond, it’s a story about a place, time, group of people, and a particular communal vibe that would set Southern music on fire while no one— and everyone— was listening, carving a unique set of career paths and crossroads that would resonate deeply for over three decades, through both success and failure, and will surely be celebrated for years to come.

It’s partially the story of Athens, Georgia. But more importantly, it’s the story of Bloodkin. As a band, an idea, an ethos, and an attitude, that would help reshape the landscape of Southern Rock well into the 21st century.

A Burial x TRVE Collab Party ft. Harsh Realm and Cave Grave

Special DJ set from Wolves In The Taproom & a metal-as-hell vinyl pop up record store from Static Age Records

Your eyes are not deceiving you. A fateful welcoming of our Denver friends awaits through the maw of eternal unworship.

  • Harsh Realm is crushing death metal from Asheville, NC. The trio released their critically acclaimed EP, “Beyond Torment” in 2019, with a follow-up single in 2021 and are currently tracking their debut LP at Drop of Sun Studios, to be unleashed in 2024.
  • Cave Grave is a down tuned death metal trio from Asheville, NC that blends osdm, slam and grindcore into a brutal cesspool of decrepit filth, and it’s catchy as hell. After just two splits and an EP, they unveil a proper full-length, “Unfurling Putridity”, eight songs of punishing death metal.

Jan 12 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Americana Soul, Singer-songwriter & guitarist, Whitney Mongé learned to capture the power of authenticity while honing her skills as a street performer. Her rich and sultry voice, accompanied by a raspy break at the edges, has drawn comparisons to esteemed artists like Brittany Howard and Lenny Kravitz. Mongé’s bluesy, percussive guitar style is unique in it’s own right, and she mentions John Mayer and Dave Matthews as influences in her musicianship.

Kerosene Heights is an emo-punk band from Asheville, NC. Blending distorted twinkly riffs, shouty vocals, and sincere lyrics, the band carries the torch of earlier emo bands.

With roots in both punk and grunge, Porch Coffin combines driving guitars, pounding drums, and powerful vocals to create a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.

Equal Creatures from Atlanta, GA writes vulnerable, melodic indie-rock that discusses surviving, desire, switching medication, being groomed, queerness, resiliency, and honoring our sadness and anger but also recognizing that the dark and sad parts of life are fleeting.

Striking a compelling balance between the intricate guitar work of Midwest emo and the song structures of post-rock bands, Mary’s Letter is an emo band from Asheville with cathartic songwriting and a three-guitar wall of sound.

“Dylan LeBlanc is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who often finds himself flirting with the edge — or “dancing on a razor,” as he calls it — as it is all he has ever known. A verdict vagabond since he was a little boy tossed between Texas, Louisiana and Alabama, LeBlanc thrives on the precipice, never staying in one place for too long. It is that nomadic spirit that drew him not only to a life as a touring musician, but also to the beast that titles his newest record: ‘Coyote’.” – highroadtouring.com

Storytelling is something of a Texas tradition. Tall hats and even taller tales are woven into the fabric of The Lone Star State, and singer-songwriter Jarrod Dickenson can spin a yarn with the best of them. Hailing from Waco, now based in Nashville via Brooklyn, Dickenson spends most of his time on the road bringing his own particular brand of soulful Americana to a wide variety of music loving audiences around the globe.
