Abigail Dowd with Jane Kramer | Sundays On The River @ Olivette Riverside Pavilion
Oct 22 all-day

Oct 22 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Pulling from her heritage of storytelling and determination, Dowd weaves hints of Celtic melodies with the soulful gospel of the south to create a sound that dances between folk, rock and blues. Her soulful voice and unique classical guitar style combined with the edgy bass of Jason Duff caught the attention of Acoustic Guitar Magazine, which described the album “Not What I Seem”: “The guitar-driven introspective folk of the 1970s [as] a touchstone, but so are blues and roots rock ’n’ roll.”

With deep roots in the musical traditions, culture and lore of her beloved Appalachia, Kramer’s songs are introspective, gracefully gritty and fiercely memorable. They elegantly sweep listeners down the gravel roads and southern coastal highways, midnight truck stops and lonely motel rooms of “hard learning” and lead home to the wooded Blue Ridge Mountains with moving acceptance of our flawed human experience.

Eulogy Presents: Xiu Xiu with Secret Shame
Nov 4 @ 7:00 pm – 11:45 pm

Xiu Xiu – The project of Jamie Stewart and Angela Seo, Xiu Xiu confronts difficult emotions with music ranging from harsh to tender. Using an intense mix of post-punk, synth pop, folk, Asian percussion music, experimental music, noise, modern composition, and more, the group explores the complexities of love, sex, death, and injustice. Over the years, the band’s music spanned the rousing synth pop of 2012’s Always to the cathartic darkness of 2019’s Girl with a Basket of Fruit.

Secret Shame is no stranger to the Burial realm, as they crushed a killer set at Burnpile 2022. They refuse to limit their sound to a single genre but instead pull from a wide range of influences including post-punk, deathrock, shoegaze, and dream-pop.

$29.76 The price you’ll pay. No surprises later. Event Information and Tickets

None shall perish. The Eulogy has been written. It has taken many months and many talented minds in and around Burial to get here, but this week we begin shows at our Buxton Avenue music venue in Asheville’s South Slope. Affectionately named, ‘Eulogy’, the space is located in the building adjacent to our original taproom, above the current Bottle Shop. Check out more of our offerings at eulogyavl.com

Old Time Music Fusion for a Contemporary World (Bluegrass-Rock!)

This recent endeavor melds Mitch’s extensive knowledge of Old Time music with the contemporary sounds of electric bass, drum kit, and non-traditional guitar backups. His group hits the sweet spot where traditional mountain music intersects with an audience-pleasing contemporary beat, and even ventures into the rock-n-roll realm with a few covers. It’s definitely upbeat, high-energy, and at times almost raunchy as a mountain holler.

Sham is the songs of Shane Justice McCord in collaboration with Mikey Powers and other friends, a constantly reshaping organism. Murderboats is songwriter Josh Dean. He experiments with long-form repetitive music. His day job is building and repairing pipe organs. He feels honored to be using this skill set to expand his ongoing experimentation with modifying keyboard instruments to include pipe organs and organ design.
