Who’s Bad power packed tribute to Michael Jackson has ignited crowds on every continent and can only be described as a jaw dropping, musical must see. Son Little, is praised by American Songwriter as “one of the best songwriters working today.” Blending elements of acoustic blues, vintage soul, and conscious hip-hop into a mixture that’s expressive yet deeply personal, Son Little is the alias of Aaron Livingston, a singer, instrumentalist, and songwriter who divides his time between his own music and collaborations with others. Join us on Monday, September 11, 5 p.m., for a special appearance, album signing, and listening party with Steep Canyon Rangers. The band’s new album, Morning Shift, is due out September 8, and the LP was proudly pressed at Citizen Vinyl.
The listening party is free to attend and open to the public. No tickets are needed, but come early for mocktails, cocktails, and coffee drinks at Session.
For the in-store event, each band member will pick a song from the record to talk about. Morning Shift is the Rangers 14th studio album.
Rock n roll roots fuse his music with a fantastic raw energy, even as he leans into the imagery and storytelling of American Roots music. After an epic cross-county journey that involved a dog, a camper full of guitars, and an adventurous family, Price settled into the rich musical traditions of Western North Carolina, where he helped found The Greybirds, who were noted for their lyrical songwriting and rich, vibey instrumentation.

Laura exhibits a poetic and technical depth that has garnered comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, and Nick Drake. She writes intimate folk music with classical influence that has been described as meditative, transcendental, and within the “chamber-folk” genre (Asheville’s Mountain Xpress). Along with being a singer-songwriter, Laura has a degree in classical guitar performance and studied piano from a young age.

Aunt Vicki is a retro rock band with a hint of folk, a little dreamy around the edges. Married songwriting duo Erin Campbell and Lee Dyer write straightforward melody-driven songs and perform as both an acoustic duo and a four piece band.
The Cheeksters combine the best of what made music great in the 1960’s with a winning, fresh pop approach that delights audiences. Onstage the versatile four-piece band turns out its straightforward catchy pop confections, bringing to mind a swirling variety of influences : Memphis soul, Carnaby Street pop, swampy rhythm and blues, and more.

In partnership with Women to the Front, The Outpost is excited to present Mama and The Ruckus, an intergenerational Roots project with a big sound and an even bigger heart. The Ruckus is led by Mama who writes songs about the trauma and pain that every person inevitably experiences in their lives. With soaring guitars, wailing vocals, screaming harmonicas, and funky bass, keys, and drums, the Ruckus has a sound that is undeniably unique.
The Red Hot Sugar Babies perform sassy jazz and sultry blues of the roaring 20’s-30’s including Vintage Jazz, Blues, Swing, Ragtime, Dixieland, New Orleans. Influenced by Ethel Waters, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton they play a mix of the pop music that created the first dance craze to sweep the nation. Come dance The Charleston and revisit the era of flappers, speakeasies, rumble seats, and bathtub gin.
