Their musical chemistry is a gumbo of Appalachian folk and bluegrass, Dixieland melodies, delta blues, acid rock, murder ballads, outlaw country and Southern Gospel that they cook up into a sound all their own.

The Sufi Brothers are Aaron “Woody” Wood on vocals and guitar and Jason Krekel on vocals, mandolin, guitar, and fiddle. The Sufi Brothers play an improvised set that starts with a tribute to country roots, blues, gospel and folk, then travels a path unknown guided by an openness and sensitivity to each other and the universe.

Crystal Fountains is a bluegrass/Americana/indie-folk band from Charlotte NC

The show is a unique collection of stories from the Harvest Records universe and beyond produced with Erin Brethauer of This Land Films. The stories will be presented live on stage alongside original music, film, animation, photography, and featuring stage design and installations by Swannatopia.

Life Like Water, featuring Matt Smith on pedal steel, dobro and electric guitar is set to perform at Hawk & Hawthorne on Saturday, August 24. Richmond, Virginia’s Høly River will also perform. 

Life Like Water is the creation of multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, David Matters. With a focus on hypnotic rhythms, heartfelt lyrics, and melodies that contain flavors of Africa, Ireland and the Middle East, the music of this eclectic ensemble is sure to uplift and inspire.

Høly River was founded by multi-instrumentalists Laney Sullivan and Jameson Price. Fusing together the pulse of drone pop, worldly instrumentation, this experimental music would best be described as a landscape, as a biome all its own. This musical phenomenon has come to be known as “Earth folk,” a type of music inspired thematically by the natural environment: flora, fauna, soil, stars, and the human experience.

Country Brunch showcases a goldmine of local country bands that can usually only be found playing late nights in local and regional venues, and brings them out  into the light of day for lovers of an early matinee show.
