Nobody’s Darling String Band is a group of five ladies who are seasoned Old Time musicians, that play lively Mountain Music every Saturday from 4 to 6 at Jack of the Wood. A fiddle, guitars, standup bass and banjo uke round out this engaging and energetic group, playing in the traditional style of Appalachian roots music.
Jack Of The Wood is still a downtown hot spot for food, brews and drink since 1997 and founders Joan and Joe Eckert who still own it, have maintained the original lively English and Irish vibe. The old-time mountain and Irish music jams continue, including a hot bluegrass jam Thursdays and brunch every Sunday. Bluegrass off the beaten path! Buncombe Turnpike is a long time staple in the Asheville bluegrass scene. Their sets are made up of primarily hand crafted original songs, but the band also plays a variety of other heartfelt tunes ranging from traditional and contemporary bluegrass.
