KATIE OATES knows how to sing. She’s been singing for as long as she can remember. The daughter of a preacher, she belted hymns from her crib as a toddler to wake up her parents. As a singer/songwriter whose song styles veer into blues, jazz, gospel, and music theatre with lyrics that hearken back to 20th century jazz standards.
OWEN WALSH has been telling stories and performing music his entire life. His years of formal violin and classical guitar training, zest for informal improvisation, and love of folk-lore storytelling combine to create a unique blend of musical expression.

Just off from their residency at the Campbell Folk School, we are happy to host this duo for an early evening show. Jack Devereux is a trans-continental hillbilly, he makes violins and plays fiddle music, oh, and most around here know he’s an Asheville native! Nic Gareiss has been hailed by the New York Times for his “dexterous melding of Irish and Appalachian dance” and called “the most inventive and expressive step dancer on the scene” by the Boston Herald.
