Brunch starts at 11am — with lively bluegrass tunes courtesy of Asheville’s own Shady Grove String Band from 12-3pm. Shady Grove Stringband features a rotating cast of local pickers, anchored by Didi Wildrover on Guitar and Vocals. The City of Hope located in Ntagacha, an extremely impoverished Tanzanian community close to the Kenyan border, rescues children from situations of abuse, child marriage, female genital mutilation, hunger, and disease.
The event will include live African music by the magnificent local musician, Adama Dembele and his trio, from 4:30pm to 5:15pm. The Well Drinkers are a progressive, original bluegrass and Americana band based out of Western North Carolina, whose range extends to festivals and venues across the Southeast.
Since the band’s creation in 2019, the group has striven to combine traditional roots of their Appalachian region with progressive instrumentation, songwriting, and subject matter. Ethan Heller is a psychedelic rock and funk guitarist/vocalist best known from The Snozzberries. The Snozzberries are a hi-energy psychedelic rock band based in Asheville, NC. We are thrilled to welcome Grammy winner and Grand Champion fiddler Luke Bulla. Luke’s accolades are almost too many to list, but they include starting his own Nashville Bluegrass label, and playing in the bands of or recording with Ricky Skaggs, Lyle Lovett, Brandi Carlile, Jim Lauderdale, Darrell Scott, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Bryan Sutton, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Russ Barenberg Trio, Shawn Colvin, Tony Rice, Chris Thile, Peter Rowan, Patty Griffin, Glen Phillips, Rodney Crowell, and Earl Scruggs, to name a few.
After many years as a sideman, Luke is currently touring the country playing solo performances. In addition to his fiddling, Luke plays mandolin and guitar and writes and sings his own songs. Luke is arguably one of the most talented musicians we have ever had play.

Sam Bush There was only one prize-winning teenager carrying stones big enough to say thanks, but no thanks to Roy Acuff. Only one son of Kentucky finding a light of inspiration from Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys and catching a fire from Bob Marley and The Wailers. Only one progressive hippie allying with like-minded conspirators, rolling out the New Grass revolution, and then leaving the genre’s torch-bearing band behind as it reached its commercial peak.
There is only one consensus pick of peers and predecessors, of the traditionalists, the rebels, and the next gen devotees. Music’s ultimate inside outsider. Or is it outside insider? There is only one Sam Bush.

Gerald Calvin “Jerry” Douglas is an American Dobro and lap steel guitar player and record producer. He is widely regarded as “perhaps the finest Dobro player in contemporary acoustic music, and certainly the most celebrated and prolific.” He’s a member of Alison Kraus & Union Station, co-bandleader for Transatlantic Sessions in the United Kingdom, founder for the Grammy winner bluegrass super-group The Earls of Leicester, and he leads The Jerry Douglas Band. They perform at some of the top US festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Pilgrimage Music Festival, Big Ears Festival, DelFest, FreshGrass, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Merlefest, and many others. In addition to Douglas, The Jerry Douglas Band includes Daniel Kimbro on bass, Christian Sedelmyer on fiddle, and Mike Seal on guitar.
Since 2017, The Jerry Douglas Band has been forging new paths into the musical horizon with deep roots in bluegrass and folk that spreads out into the Americana and jazz landscapes.

Progressive bluegrass multi-instrumentalist Billy Gilmore started playing music with the five-string banjo when he was seven years old, moving on to learn the guitar, mandolin, Dobro, fiddle, bass, and keyboards, and is known to do a good bit of percussion, too. Southern rock meets jam band meets Americana with The Late Shifters, a passion-driven, band of friends, playing back holler rock-n-roll from Asheville, North Carolina. They are motivated and influenced by bands such as the Drive by Truckers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Grateful Dead, as well as songwriters like Jason Isbell and John Prine.
