Winston Rodney OD, better known by the stage name Burning Spear, is a Jamaican roots reggae singer-songwriter, vocalist, and musician. Burning Spear is a Rastafarian and one of the most influential and long-standing roots artists to emerge from the 1970s. Burning Spear’s legacy as a reggae icon is everlasting, and his music continues to inspire and uplift audiences around the world. Shovels & Rope are an American folk duo from Charleston, South Carolina composed of husband and wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Combining threads from their individual solo careers, Shovels & Rope blends traditional folk, rock and roll and country rock.

We hope you’ll attend this outstanding concert and experience an evening of contemporary solos and duo music featuring Gordon Beeferman on piano and Stephanie Griffin on viola. The program highlights Tunnel Visions, a dynamic four-movement duo that navigates through intricate microtonal landscapes, and Morton Feldman’s evocative The Viola in My Life (3), where Feldman creates a unique tapestry of melody and static sound inspired by abstract painting.
