Asheville based BrassFunkRock band Empire Strikes Brass has a lot to say with a big sound. Chock-full of serious groove from a thumping rhythm section highlighted by lush horn arrangements played by a thick horn section, the band’s compositional roots as well as it’s creative and collaborative soul contribute lots of depth in their original tunes and covers that speak volumes to ESB’s evolution.
Founded in 2012, ESB has grown from a party band of friends playing New Orleans-originated or inspired second-line and funk tunes with elements of rock and jam. Now, it consists of a collective of players, singers, songwriters, and producers who have found an original sound that fuses their individual musical influences with fresh ideas while still holding true to their foundation.

A born entertainer and a multi instrumentalist, Will Hartz has been putting on a show for all to see before he could speak. With Appalachian soul pouring through his fingertips, Will is best known for his ability to grab the attention of any and all audiences with his refined stylistic performances. Bringing the soul from Greensboro, North Carolina, Ranford Almond is a young singer/songwriter and troubadour that has begun to make his mark across the Southeast. Host of the roots music history podcast, American Songcatcher, Nicholas Edward Williams is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller who is dedicated to “playing it forward” by preserving the songs, stories, artists and styles that have shaped our country: Ragtime, Piedmont Blues, Early Country, Traditional Folk and Old-Time.
Hannah Kaminer is an Asheville, North Carolina-based artist who is known for her poignant songwriting, clear voice, and often comedic stage presence. Raised in small towns in Western North Carolina, Kaminer writes songs about love, loss, and home, fusing echoes of Appalachian and country traditions with wistful, Americana-style songwriting.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Transylvania county chapter of JuniorAppalachian Musicians (JAM,) a nonprofit whose mission is ” to provide communities with the tools and support they need to teach children to play and dance to traditional old time and bluegrass music” and “.. [to give children] the opportunity to experience community through the joy of participating in traditional mountain music together.”

Saylor Brothers are a bluegrass/jam trio that had it’s genesis in the John Hartford Jam which occurred in Asheville from 2014-2020. Along the way of hosting this jam, brothers Will & Ben Saylor (banjo/guitar) collaborated with nearly every picker in the Asheville bluegrass scene, catching nationally touring players in town while off tour, and building chemistry & connections with many of the best pickers in town. Adding frequent collaborator Greg Stiglets on bass in 2021 and officially forming a trio, the band performs originals, jammy trads & covers, (and of course the odd Hartford tune or two) at their high energy shows.

Caged Affair is an alternative rock band based out of Asheville NC. Their neo grunge-punk sound has drawn parallels to Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana and Royal Blood among others. KATIE OATES knows how to sing. She’s been singing for as long as she can remember. The daughter of a preacher, she belted hymns from her crib as a toddler to wake up her parents. As a singer/songwriter whose song styles veer into blues, jazz, gospel, and music theatre with lyrics that hearken back to 20th century jazz standards.
OWEN WALSH has been telling stories and performing music his entire life. His years of formal violin and classical guitar training, zest for informal improvisation, and love of folk-lore storytelling combine to create a unique blend of musical expression.

What is The Alien Music Club? It’s a musical collective from Asheville’s Jonathan Pearlman, who operates in relative obscurity within the area’s thriving music scene. “I operate under the pseudonym AMC, because I’m painfully shy and self-deprecating. I’m no good at self-promotion, but I do make great music with my many very talented friends.”
AMC is a bit eccentric. Expect quirky, unusual, original material; jazz, rockabilly, funk, punk and general weirdness with lots of fun cover tunes. The lineup features JP (guitar/vocals), Chuck Lichtenberger (piano/vocals), Alex Travers (violin/guitar), Ryan Kijanka (bass) and Jaron Pearlman (drums/vocals).
