In partnership with Women to the Front, The Outpost is excited to present Mama and The Ruckus, an intergenerational Roots project with a big sound and an even bigger heart. The Ruckus is led by Mama who writes songs about the trauma and pain that every person inevitably experiences in their lives. With soaring guitars, wailing vocals, screaming harmonicas, and funky bass, keys, and drums, the Ruckus has a sound that is undeniably unique.
This event is part of WTF Week. WTF week is a week long celebration leading up to the Women to the Front Music Festival taking place Sept 10th-17th at venues across Asheville who will be celebrating all the talented women who help make Asheville such a wonderful place to live.

The Red Hot Sugar Babies perform sassy jazz and sultry blues of the roaring 20’s-30’s including Vintage Jazz, Blues, Swing, Ragtime, Dixieland, New Orleans. Influenced by Ethel Waters, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton they play a mix of the pop music that created the first dance craze to sweep the nation. Women to the Front is a music festival that was created to celebrate females in the music industry in Asheville, NC. Featuring live music by all female musicians, vendor spots for female-owned businesses and nonprofits, female sound engineers, female photographers and videographers, and female owned food trucks, this event in its 2nd year will be held at New Belgium Brewing on September 17th 2023. It is a family friendly event and free to the public.
