The Double Crown is celebrating Thanksgiving with none other than the Godfather of Quartet himself Spencer Taylor Jr. and The Highway QCs! The QCs are marking their 78th year after forming in Chicago in 1946. Spencer Taylor Jr. took over as lead singer in 1956. His predecessors in the group included Johnnie Taylor, Lou Rawls and Sam Cooke. The Godfather turned 96 this year and is still going strong. Come on out and help us celebrate 78 years of The Highway QCs!

Benjamin Bjorlie is an Asheville based bassist and drummer. He is a core member of The J Lloyd Mashup, a local funk band, among his many projects. He will be joined by a cast of amazing local musicians to bust out some Funk, neo-soul and pop.

LEAF Global Arts hosts an Artist ReLEAF Concert series on Saturdays through December 14. The events will both benefit the artists who perform (through the LEAF Local Artist Relief Fund) AND help to raise money for the fund.
The incomparable and uber-talented Chinobay (LEAF’s board chair) is a Ugandan musician and educator who has led workshops, camps, and residencies worldwide.
The Grove Arcade Tree Lighting Block Party is happening on Saturday, November 30 from 4-9pm on Page Avenue. This will be a free holiday extravaganza that you won’t want to miss!

Nobody’s Darling String Band is a group of five ladies who are seasoned Old Time musicians, that play lively Mountain Music every Saturday from 4 to 6 at Jack of the Wood. A fiddle, guitars, standup bass and banjo uke round out this engaging and energetic group, playing in the traditional style of Appalachian roots music.
Jack Of The Wood is still a downtown hot spot for food, brews and drink since 1997 and founders Joan and Joe Eckert who still own it, have maintained the original lively English and Irish vibe. The old-time mountain and Irish music jams continue, including a hot bluegrass jam Thursdays and brunch every Sunday. Event Details and Tickets
On Sunday December 1st, The JLloyd MashUp is paying tribute to Paul Simon with a full orchestration of his songs from various points in his career. Ben Falcon will be leading the vocals. This 12 piece band consists of some of Asheville’s top musicians in the scene boasting a full rhythm section, horn section and vocal choir!
The JLloyd MashUp explores different genres of music including Acid Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afro Beat, Reggae, Break Beat, Latin and world music. Led and curated by Jonathan Lloyd (Dubconscious/Cadillac Jones), the band is made up of some of Asheville’s busiest and hardest working musicians on the scene. The group features special guests with different material every show.
