In partnership with Women to the Front, The Outpost is excited to present Mama and The Ruckus, an intergenerational Roots project with a big sound and an even bigger heart. The Ruckus is led by Mama who writes songs about the trauma and pain that every person inevitably experiences in their lives. With soaring guitars, wailing vocals, screaming harmonicas, and funky bass, keys, and drums, the Ruckus has a sound that is undeniably unique.
The Red Hot Sugar Babies perform sassy jazz and sultry blues of the roaring 20’s-30’s including Vintage Jazz, Blues, Swing, Ragtime, Dixieland, New Orleans. Influenced by Ethel Waters, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton they play a mix of the pop music that created the first dance craze to sweep the nation. Come dance The Charleston and revisit the era of flappers, speakeasies, rumble seats, and bathtub gin.
WTF Week is a celebration of the women who make the Asheville music scene so special. The week will culminate with the WTF festival on September 17th at New Belgium Brewing.
Join us at Shiloh & Gaines on Friday April 15 for a very special show featuring local Asheville legend Datrian Johnson with Lafayette, Louisiana (by way of Norway and California) artist Rainy Eyes. Women to the Front is a music festival that was created to celebrate females in the music industry in Asheville, NC. Featuring live music by all female musicians, vendor spots for female-owned businesses and nonprofits, female sound engineers, female photographers and videographers, and female owned food trucks, this event in its 2nd year will be held at New Belgium Brewing on September 17th 2023. It is a family friendly event and free to the public.
